Choosing the Right Bodyguard

Have you seen movie stars, singers, famous personalities, and politicians in person? Chances are you would also see grim-looking and sometimes huge men escorting them. These are their bodyguards, and their very lives depend on these brave men. True, anyone with a degree of combat skills can be a bodyguard, but they have to be chosen wisely.

People who hire bodyguards first check the regulations for private-security firms in their area. They usually choose a firm that complies with state rules and regulations and are licensed by the government. Once they narrow down the selection of firms, the employers make sure that the security companies are dependable. They check out the agencies' hiring practices, insurance coverage, employee qualifications, and other factors. Many personalities prefer bodyguards with previous experience who used to be employed in the military, police, government security force, or a previous personality like themselves.

All applicants that qualify for the position are invited over for an extensive interview. But, before doing so, the applicant is required to sign a non-disclosure agreement. During the interview itself, previous experiences, special skills, standard practices, and other important issues are raised. Sometimes, the applicants are given practical examinations by staging mock danger situations to see how they would react to such incidents. Background checks are also mandatory to see if any applicant has had any brushes with trouble or the law.

Each applicant should also have a bodyguard's company ID, government issued IDs, licenses (especially the license to carry a firearm), and other necessary documents. Finally, after carefully evaluating each applicant's behaviour and psychology, and verifying their performance with previous clients, the most appropriate one for the job is selected.
